Critter connections
Peacocks► roam, koalas► sleep, tigers kill, and children run around and scream... it's a zoo out there :)
Opened in 1929 on 125 acres, the SF Zoo is the largest, and oldest, in Northern California - it is neither huge nor modern, but a solid zoo.
Like Alcatraz, the Zoo's most famous resident - Tatiana, a Siberian Tiger - achieved notoriety by escaping and attacking 3 people (killing one) in 2007. Keep an eye open, and take it easy on the critters.
The Zoo is a short walk from Ocean Beach and Lake Merced, and not much further from Fort Funston.
